Mixing a game I really love with a project I really wanted to start working on.
Enigma is a character from Flesh and Blood, my favorite card game. I really wanted to include something from FaB on my tutorials project, as I get a fun creativity boost when working with characters or IPs I like. Initially, the idea behind this project was to celebrate Enigma’s victory at the Osaka Worlds, the game’s most prestigious tournament. However, as I worked on it, I realized it could also serve as a great opportunity to create a tutorial showcasing how I brought Enigma’s intricate design into 3D.
Also, by the time I had finished this project Osaka Worlds was long gone and done. Late again!
From modeling to texturing, every aspect of the process demanded a high level of attention to detail — her hair took many, many, many hours to finish, as I had never tried to create realistic, simulated hair on a cartoony design.
